How to setup your Android device with Unblock-Us
Important: Before you start
Before you change your DNS settings to use Unblock-Us, be sure to write down the current server addresses or settings on a piece of paper. It is very important that you keep these numbers for backup purposes, in case you need to revert to them at any time.
We also recommend that you print this page, in the event that you encounter a problem and need to refer to these instructions.
Instructions
Android 2.3 Setup instructions
- Go to Settings
- Go to Wireless and Networks
- Then Wi-Fi settings
- Menu > Advanced
- Use static IP
- Copy current IP address (few lines above) to IP address field
- Set Gateway as router IP (usually the same as current IP except last number is .1, i.e. if your phone IP 192.168.2.130 then router’s likely 192.168.2.1)
- Set Netmask 255.255.255.0 (sometimes it’s different, but you should already know what to do if it is)
- Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per table below:
Primary: 208.122.23.23 Secondary: 208.122.23.22 - Menu > “Save”
- Restart your phone (power cycle).
- Verify configuration on our homepage page
Instruction for Android 4.0+ (ICS / Ice Cream Sandwich)
- Go to Settings
- Go to WiFi (click on word “WiFi”, not ON/OFF switch)
- Press and hold preferred (or active) wireless network until dialog pops up
- Select Modify Network
- Check Show advanced options checkbox at the bottom
- Switch IP settings“ to ”Static
- Keep IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP)
- Set DNS 1 and DNS 2 fields as per DNS table shown earlier in the Android 2.3 guide - Step 9
- Click Save
- Restart your phone (power cycle).

Important
- Restart the device after setting up our DNS
- If the device has a built-in browser please check the device is setup by going to our website. If it doesn’t please make sure you have our DNS setup on a device with a browser so you can check your service.
- Check that you get 3 green bars in the middle of the page. If you see a message asking you to update your IP address please follow the on-screen instructions.
